Bob and Mary Kennedy joined the Twinning Association in 2001 after accommodating some French children and are still members today. So, what has maintained their interest?
Bob, formerly chairman of the Association, said that he had greatly enjoyed working with many others in the town to develop the success of the group and Mary added that they had made many friends both here and in France as a result. They have visited Perros‐Guirec 8 times as members and made numerous other visits to friends ‘en route’ to their holiday home near Bordeaux.
Mary, a former Mayoress of Teignmouth, said, “The important thing is to enjoy meeting people, being able to speak French is really not necessary to play a full part.”

Their conversation turned to the equal excitement of discovering a beautiful region of Brittany and of showing visitors the tourist highlights of our part of the world – and discovering some hidden delights as well.
Bob added that the success of the Twinning Association was due to the involvement and good will of many townsfolk on both sides of the channel and that many fruitful and enjoyable exchanges resulted. These include the activities of the Teignmouth International Artists group, and many others from golfers to Morris Dancers.
Perhaps it is no surprise that Bob and Mary’s children share this passion for France and they now travel there to see their grandchildren!
Bob recently gave up leading the association but continues to play a full part in the group’s varied activities
